I'm Tia, and I'm so glad you're here.
Flapjack Theatrics is a theatre (etc!) company with a unique model. It's a one-ADHD-woman venture, but every project involves a small number of very close and beloved collaborators. Family members, friends. And each project aligns with this cancer veteran's values of human-first work ethic, thoughtfully welcoming and caring for audiences, and being a helper in this world.
The (adorable!) flapjack octopus is a relatively recently-discovered creature! Scientists had to go to the exact right spots (deep-sea, off certain coasts) to find this unique little gem.
Our favorite work to do at Flapjack is stuff that feels like my weird (deep unique gem!) of a brain...work that is non-linear (Edward & Christine), or some amalgam of theatre and ______ (Glitter Vikings); work that upholds kid-logic (The Girl Who Swallowed A Cactus); work that defies norms. Work that makes its own rules, and lets you in on 'em too.
If you're here reading this, then you are willing to go off the typical theatre path, and open your mind and heart to innovative, "small batch" work. Well, we seek to return the favor. Flapjack produces live shows made-for-Zoom (so, for anyone, anywhere with Internet access), as well as in-person shows meant for cozy spaces like living rooms! And be it an in-person or online show, we WELCOME YOU. You who need or wish to remain off-screen; you who need to move around while you watch a show; you who want to interact but are a rather nervous person (like me). We will be up-front about what to expect from each show, and all of our interaction is gentle. Your Flapjack show experience will be playful, comfy, deep and joyful and compassionately connective.
A joyful, in-person, family-friendly play!
Available for groups of 4 to 40 humans.
A grand adventure about a group of friends, their desert fort, and a wild animal with designs on their most prized possession. A tale spun by one actor from a crate full of junk and an audience full of imagination.
Best for intimate, non-theatre spaces (living rooms! Libraries! Shops! Community centers!); booking on a sliding scale. Inquire by email!
The From-Home Fest is an annual virtual/telephone theatre festival hosted by Flapjack! The Fest doesn't happen till autumn, but there are two innovative and gentle pieces by Fest artists that you can access anytime on the Fest site.
An oracle. A room of keys. Italy. (Italy?) Well…Perceived Italy. These are just a few of the stops in Sophi’s quest to save her father. This whimsical and meaningful script, written by Tia, is available to read and license through Uproar Theatrics!
Current run: Big Britches Productions in Bingen, WA! March 2025
